The Eperaara Siapidaara people of Canaan, in Guapí, have been weaving for generations with chocolatillo and tetera straw — fibers they gather from their surroundings with the same respect their ancestors did. The baskets that are born from these hands are not decorative objects. They are living archives. Each one holds a way of seeing the world, a way of relating to the land, knowledge that is transmitted in the very act of weaving.
We met Ferney at a fair. And what stopped us was not only the beauty of the pieces — it was the way he presented them. With a quiet pride, with knowledge that came from within, with the clarity of someone who knows exactly what they are preserving.
Today, Tradición Entretejida sends its pieces to several countries. Not for museums. For homes, for hands, for people who — like us — believe that some things deserve not to be lost.
